Hello foodies, we recently had the pleasure of checking out Hamilton’s newest BBQ joint with a group of other local foodie bloggers. From the folks that brought you The Fizz Sandwich Shop, comes Smoke and Candy BBQ, serving up some really delicious southern foods including brisket, chili, greens, mac and cheese and so much more!
This husband and wife duo are truly passionate about southern cooking making in-house smoked meats, in-house BBQ sauce and southern style desserts and my favorite CORNBREAD (although it is a specialty item and not on their regular menu, sadly). They also are still offering the house-made sodas, and let me tell you they are incredible, I personally love the cherry flavour. These sodas are a pure fruit puree mixed with soda water, so simple, just perfectly balanced deliciousness.
This cozy restaurant is tucked in the heart of the International Village, they have some dine-in spaces but the location makes for a convenient take out spot. I love this area of Hamilton’s downtown, so exciting to see more businesses coming to this area and thriving.
- 100% tryout the brisket, so perfectly seasoned and melts in your mouth
- The chili was out of this world! I normally do not reach for chili and I loved this, so cozy and perfect during the cold winter ahead.
- I can not finish this review without mentioning the cornbread was out of this world and is the perfect pairing with these savory and bold flavours.
- Be sure to try the made in-house bbq sauce so delicious!
