Bulky Weight Yarn/Indie / Handdyed/ Superwash Merino Wool /Nylon/ "Biggie" / Black Berry / Purple / Blue / Green
Bulky Weight Yarn
Use it to make hats, cowls, mitts or anything else to keep you cosy and warm!
Hand dyed on a super soft “Biggie” base the yarn is a mix of 50% superwash merino & 50% Nylon making it both super soft and durable.
I hand dye each skein in my smoke free / pet free home studio here in Ancaster, Ontario using high quality acid dyes.
Hand dyed yarn is unique in that no two skeins are alike, even in the same colourway! I dye in small batches but if you do require large amounts of yarn please contact me and I may be able to dye a larger batch for you!
Price listed is per 100gm skein
Each skein is: 100gm / approx 110 yards
2 Ply 50% Superwash Merino / 50% Nylon
Recommended needle size:
Knitting: 3 -3.75 st / inch on 5.5 - 8 mm needles. (US 9-11)
Crochet 8-11sc / 4 inches on 6.5-9mm hooks (US K10 - m13)
(only recommendations, size will depend on your stitch tension, take time to check your gauge and adjust as needed)
Although superwash wools are machine washable, I do recommend washing in lukewarm water with a gentle soap / yarn soak to preserve the colour
I handwash all of my yarns to clear, but on occasion there may be some colour bleed with the first wash. Please ensure you are using the correct water temperature.
I try my best to capture the truest colour in my pictures , but they may differ slightly depending on your monitor settings. Due to the nature and beauty of hand dyed yarns and all skeins (even in the same colourway batch) being unique the skien you receive may be slightly different than the one pictured. If using more than one skein in a project, I do recommend alternating skeins every few rows for for a more uniform mixture of the colours.
Winding into a ball:
All yarn is shipped in skeins / hanks (as shown) so you will need to wind into a ball for use. Winding your skeins can be fun and relaxing, but at times it can become a little tangled.
I do recommend stretching the skein and giving it a few good shakes to straighten out the yarn before putting it on the swift especially with all the tumbles it may take during the dyeing and shipping process.
